Attieke and Fish

Today's Recipe is Attieke and Fish,
Attieke is an Ivorian Popular dish it is made from fermented and grated cassava, and can be eaten with fried fish or a sauce. The already processed cassava can be bought from any shop or market in Ivory Coast. it contains 158calories "PER SERVE"  Carbohydrate 37%, Sodium 205mg- 9%, Potassium 248mg -7%, Dietary Fiber 4.8g 19% Vitamin C 82% and 9% Iron

Ingredients include: Cooked Attieke, Onions, tomatoes, chilli (Optional), salt to taste, maggi and olive oil

Directions on how to prepare Attieke

  • Attieke is put in a metal bowl and then places on a steamer basket, it is then allowed to steam until all the water is been absorbed.
  • Cook for 20 more minutes turning the Attieke with a fork to break up any clumps
  •  (if the clumps do not break up, then it has not cooked enough. Attieke should be fluffy and cooked but not sloppy (it should look like couscous or grits).
  • Once it is done, turn into a large bowl, add crumbled Maggi cubes and olive oil.
  •  To serve, turn the Attieke  onto a dish and garnish with a little diced tomato and thin slivers of sliced onion. 
  • Fry Fish and eat along with Attieke. A perfect Combination!!

    3. You can also eat the attieke with a light soup, or with a onion-tomato mixed stew, they're all yummy :)
